There is a lot to unpack in chapter seventeen and honestly there are a few passages I have heard lengthy sermons on. When Jesus refers to anything in the future there are always people who dedicate immense hours of study trying to decode what he is meaning. The focus should never be taken away from achieving the kingdom at hand. Jesus wants his disciples to experience the Kingdom of Heaven at hand through an encounter with the Holy Spirit. It is the spirit of all things good, all things peace, and all things joy. We all struggle to maintain this is constance, but we should daily strive to keep on the narrow path. It is the path of selflessness as opposed to the wide and easy path of selfishness.
I pray this resource encourages you and assists in leading you into a closer relationship with Jesus.
God Bless,
James Arthur Ferguson
