Cognitive Science:

  1. Philosophy- the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence, especially when considered as an academic discipline. Specific branches of Philosophy include metaphysics, epistemology, axiology, and logic.
  2. Linguistics- the scientific study of language and its structure, including the study of morphology, syntax, phonetics, and semantics. Specific branches of Linguistics include sociolinguistics, dialectology, pyscho-linguistics, computational linguistics, historical-comparative linguistics, and applied linguistics.
  3. Anthropology- the study of human societies and cultures, and their development. Specific branches of Anthropology include cultural/social anthropology, linguistic anthropology, biological/physical anthropology, and archaeology.
  4. Neuroscience- the study of neurochemistry and experimental psychology, which deal with the structure or function of the nervous system and brain. Specific branches of Neuroscience include cellular/molecular neuroscience, systems neuroscience, cognitive/behavioral neuroscience, computational neuroscience, and translational/clinical neuroscience.
  5. Artificial Intelligence- the study and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages. Specific branches of Artificial Intelligence include machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, robotics, expert systems, and fuzzy logic.
  6. Psychology- the study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behavior in a given context. Specific branches of psychology range widely with over fifteen academically recognized branches such as clinical psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, evolutionary psychology, forensic psychology, health psychology, neuropsychology, occupational psychology, social psychology and more.
